Due to the contingency of remote audits due to COVID-19, many organizations, certification bodies and governing bodies are finding remote auditing to be an effective tool. There have been witness audits conducted by governing bodies for ISO 9001 and other standards and found to be an effective method of auditing. This was only planned to be temporary, but it has been stated by certification bodies that they plan to maintain the option of remote audits as standard practice. Food and Automotive have not yet supported remote audits. However, we all know things can change quickly.
